Wordcracker is a two-player word game where you take turns adding letters to a growing string. You need a real word in mind each time, but can't finish a four-plus letter word. The only way to win is to challenge your opponent — either when they complete a word, or when you think they can't name a word that contains the string on the board. Knowing when to challenge is everything.
On Your Turn
Place a letter — Drag a letter from the keyboard onto the board. You can insert it anywhere — at the start, end, or between existing letters.
Special Move — Use swap or shuffle. This ends your turn.
Challenge — Challenge your opponent if you think they made a mistake:
If they've made a word (4+ letters)
If you think they've created a string that can't be found in any word
Special Moves (once per round each)
Swap — Replace one letter on the board with a different letter.
Shuffle — Rearrange all existing letters into a new order.
Each special move must produce a string that hasn't already appeared this round.
Winning
First player to win the target number of rounds wins the match.
Draft Mode
Before playing, each player drafts 6 consonants from a shared pool, taking turns one at a time.
Vowels (A, E, I, O, U, Y) are shared — both players can always use them.
During the game, you can only place your own consonants and the shared vowels.
All letters can be used unlimited times — they are never consumed.
When defending a challenge, any valid word works — it does not need to be spelled with your drafted letters.
Players draft once per match — the same consonants carry through every round.
